Kyrgyzstan presidential administration chief resigns (Itar-Tass)
BISHKEK, January 8 (Itar-Tass) - Medet Sadyrkulov, head of Kyrgyzstan's presidential administration, tendered his resignation on Thursday. The resignation was accepted by the Head of State, Kyrmanbek Bakiyev, the presidential press service official has told Itar-Tass.

As of Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at least 560 members of the U.S. military had died in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan as a result of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in late 2001, according to the Defense Department. The department last updated its figures Wednesday at 10 a.m. EST.
