MICHIGAN STATE FAIR SCHEDULE: It's corn day at the fair (Detroit Free Press)
The Michigan State Fair runs through Labor Day at the corner of 8 Mile and Woodward. It's open 10 a.m.-10 p.m. daily. Admission is $10; $5 for children 3-12, $5 for seniors 62 and older, free for children 2 & younger. Parking is $ 7 per vehicle. Ride all day wristbands are $15 today and $25 on weekends (including Labor Day).

Bulldogs bounce to China and back (The Shelby Star)
The Bouncing Bulldogs International Rope Skipping Demonstration Team has jumped in 11 countries and now they can add China to the list. Coached by Cleveland County natives, Ray and Patricia Frederick, the team returned Aug. 14 from Beijing to its training facility in Chapel Hill.
