State extends alcohol ban at Silver Strand beach (San Diego Union-Tribune)
Silver Strand State Beach stood alone last summer, the only beach in the county where a beer or glass of wine was legal. No more. The state is banning alcohol from Silver Strand between March 16 and Sept. 30, beginning this year. The action follows a disorderly, alcohol-fueled Fourth of July weekend at the beach and a more sedate Labor Day weekend under an experimental booze ban.

Chesterton Park Board hears plea for fireworks (Chesterton Tribune)
