Florida Tech scientists earn NSF grant to study age of stars (EurekAlert!)
( Florida Institute of Technology ) Oswalt and his team will determine ages by studying the chromospheres, or outer atmospheres, of stars like the sun. Chromospheric activity, like sunspots and the solar cycle, is known to correlate with age but the exact relation has not been explored beyond the age of the sun.

Astronomers Catch Binary Star Explosion Inside Nebula (Science Daily)
The explosion of a binary star inside a planetary nebula has been captured – an event that has not been witnessed for more than 100 years. The study predicts that the combined mass of the two stars in the system may be high enough for the stars to eventually spiral into each other, triggering a much bigger supernova explosion.
